The Eggplant Cometh!

Here it comes, that time of year when CSA members start leaving their eggplant in free boxes on the curb. But wait, not so fast! I'm gonna try this new recipe for dinner tonight: Eggplant Dal (courtesy of the New York Times Cooking, slightly adapted to add a little extra zing and oomph and pizazz). There's also always eggplant parmesan, bab ganoush, grilled/broiled/air-fryed eggplant, marinated eggplant with tahini, and chermoula eggplant (maybe one of my all-time favorite things to eat at this time of year). Try some of those recipes and before you know it, ya'll will be clamoring for extra eggplant in your share!

Highway 101 Closure September 19th -21st

If you haven't heard, ODOT is doing a big culvert replacement project under Hwy 101 near Four Mile in September. The highway will be fully closed in both directions from 9 pm Friday, September 18th to late Sunday night, September 21st. This closure will impact our routine Saturday delivery to Bandon. If you are a Bandon CSA member, please note the following important changes to our delivery schedule that week:

  • We will deliver all Bandon CSA shares on Friday evening, September 18th instead of on Saturday, September 19th. We hope to have all CSA totes at Well Within by 7 pm.
  • If you live south of the road closure and cannot make it to Bandon to pick up your share on Friday evening, please email us by Wednesday, September 17th and we will hold your CSA tote in our walk-in cooler for pickup at the farm on Saturday.
  • We will send another reminder email to all Bandon CSA members as the date draws near.

Our farmstand will also be closed that day, due to limited accessibility from the North.

Thanks for your understanding as we work to ensure that everyone gets their produce that week!
