In the final "winter" share:
- Strawberries
- Hakurei Turnips
- Red Radishes
- Sunflower Shoots
- Baby Carrots
- Arugula
- Butterhead Lettuce
- Shallots
- Red Beets
- Purple Potatoes
There is nothing very wintry about this final winter share, which computes seeing as winter never happened! Thank you for your support over the past five months as we've wended through the mildest winter season ever. You have faced off against monster heads of cauliflower (and won, I hope!). You have eaten close to 40 pounds of potatoes (is that too many?). You have worked through super-sized bags of microgreens, and will hopefully live forever because of it. You have overcome a crisper drawer full of red beets by way of pickling and roasting and borschting (and if not, you still can because they store so well)! And hopefully you are healthier and happier because of it all.
Our summer season is just around the corner, kicking off the week of June 1st. If you are signed up for a summer CSA share you'll be hearing from us soon via email confirming your pickup location and sharing out some important info.
In the meantime our Wednesday Farmstand is set to open NEXT WEDNESDAY, May 27th! If you're jonesing for some more produce (ok, admit it, strawberries) before the summer CSA gets underway, you can place an online order for pickup on 5/27 or drop in to shop next Wednesday. Our online farmstand store will be "open" for orders by 9 am tomorrow (Thursday) morning and you can place an order until 8 pm Sunday evening: https://valley-flora.localline.ca/farmstand. We'll have a nice array of produce, plus Farmstead Bread and Wild Coast Brew Teas are back!
Also, we're excited to announce that we're participating in a pilot program this season that will allow us to process SNAP at the farmstand and offer Double Up Food Bucks to our SNAP customers. Double Up Food Bucks covers half the cost of fresh produce when purchased with SNAP (an Oregon Trail card). We've been able to offer this program to our CSA customers for a number of years and we're thrilled to be able to also extend it to our farmstand customers now! We have a few more hoops to jump through before the program is live, but hopefully it'll be up and running in the next couple weeks. Please spread the word throughout the community. The 50% discount provided via Double Up Food Bucks applies to all the fresh produce we grow, including u-pick strawberries. Processed foods like hot sauce, tea and bread are not eligible.
Thank you all for your dedication to eating locally and for supporting organic, human-scale agriculture.
