In the CSA Share this Week:
- Collard Greens
- Sweet Peppers
- Eggplant
- Head Lettuce
- Carrots
- Italian Parsley
- Yellow Onions
- Hot Peppers
- Tomatoes
- French Fingerling Potatoes
On Rotation:
- Romanesco Cauliflower
The first of the treats from our fall Brassica field: romanesco cauliflower, in all it's insane, chartreuse, Fibonacci glory! We had a CSA member once admit that she couldn't bring herself to eat her head of romanesco - she just kept it on her counter all week and took pictures of it. For sure, it's one of the the most eye-popping vegetables to come out of the field all season but I do recommend eating it once you fill up on the eye candy :)
I'm a big proponent of keeping it simple: cut it into even-sized florets, toss it with olive oil and salt & pepper, then roast it on a sheet pan at high heat (425-450 degrees) until it's fork tender with crispy brown edges.
Also this week, some BTU's from the big orange sun! The forecast is turning up toasty after all, which bodes well for more peppers! peppers!! peppers!!! in your future. Thank you, Helios! (It must be because of that enormous romanesco we sacrificed to him last week....)
